Unbalanced by us has been our most ambiguous project to date. Artists from all over the world have come together and provided illustrations celebrating Kanon Wakeshima’s 10-year music career. As we enter her 11th year, we decided to continue the project. However, we wanted to take this one step further.
THANATOS: The Girl in the Black Dress
We are proud to announce a new project based on the world of Kanon Wakeshima’s doujin story THANATOS. Rather than just providing a website to release fanart, we will be creating a fanzine with many great illustrations from various artists all over the world, Anyone is welcome to join us on this project, no matter your skill level. THANATOS has been one of our favorite stories from last year, and we want to continue to celebrate Kanon Wakeshima’s talents.
What is THANATOS?
THANATOS is the story of Lyle K. Evans, an ex-member of the military. His life almost reaches the end until a young girl saves his life from death. She calls herself Thanatos. She comes to this world to protect Lyle from a group who is for some reason after him. Written and illustrated by Kanon Wakeshima, it is the first of its kind where she writes an original story and also provides music to complement the story.
If you’re interested in applying for the fanzine, we recommend reading the doujin first to get a feel of the story and characters. We at Kanon Channel were lucky enough to have an English-translated version of THANATOS for everyone. Reading the story will give you a better idea of what your illustration could be. There are a good number of characters that will help you draw inspiration.
What do I need to do?
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your interest. The goal of this fanzine is to represent the overseas fan community of Kanon Wakeshima.
Please know that everything is voluntary. As well as please do make sure that you will meet your deadlines. The goal is to send a physical copy of this fanzine to Kanon Wakeshima on her birthday, June 28th. We are still determining the distribution method for everyone else. More to come on that at a later date.
The deadline for art submissions is until May 1st, 2019.
You can submit a maximum of two illustrations per person. You are allowed to focus on as many characters as you like. We accept all styles of art as long as at least one of the characters are present.
